What Are The Rules?

The rules are that the rules can always be bent.
The rules are that the rules are made by people.
The rules are that the rules are based on facts observed by the people who make them.
The rules are that the rules only work when most of the people agree to follow the rules.
The rules are ultimately only guidelines.
The rules only last when they benefit the people who are supposed to follow them.
The rules are made to encourage order.
The rules are enforced only when there is resistance to them.
The rules are not always right.
The rules are allowed to change.
The rules are not always written.
The rules are sometimes different from the words that describe them.
The rules are that the rules can be used to subvert the rules.
The rules are that there are exceptions to all rules.
The rules are that not everyone recognizes the exceptions to the rules.
The rules are that it is up to you to know the rules
and follow the real ones.
